The Radiation Safety Division oversees the quality control of dose calibrators that are operated for the “determination of dosages of unsealed byproduct material for medical use”. These are located at Washington University in St. Louis, Barnes -Jewish Hospital, Saint Louis Children’s Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, HCI West County, and HCI South County.
The dose calibrator quality control program charter describes the methods and procedures that are implemented in accordance with the requirements of NRC 10 CFR 35.60(b). The methods and procedures described are based on the recommendations from AAPM Task Group 181 and NUREG 1556 Volume 13, Revision 2, Appendix K, and are consistent with manufacturer’s guidance, ANSI N42-13, and national standard practices.
