the Department of Comparative Medicine to review animal studies involving
hazardous material. The review process ensures that animal studies are
conducted in compliance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA), and other compliance agency regulations. EH&S
reviews the following hazardous materials used in animal studies protocols:
- Infectious
Material
- Human tissues or cell lines
- Recombinant DNA
- Carcinogenic, acutely
toxic, or otherwise potentially hazardous materials
